Community Connection through Communications

My junior year of College I participated in an Immersive Learning Project where the primary objective was to engage in community development. To accomplish this objective, I taught a speech class for a local high school. Throughout the semester I developed interactive exercises like impromptu speeches. This allowed me to learn what interests the students had and to tailor my class to fit their needs and incorporate their interests. Because I was able to connect with them, I was in a position to encourage them to apply for college and go into areas of study they cared about.
